This compact ultra telephoto zoom lens covers a range up to 500mm and optimized for digital SLR cameras. The new multi-layer lens coating and lens design reduces flare and ghosting. This lens uses one aspherical lens and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements for excellent correction all types of aberration, resulting in better picture quality on both film and digital SLRs.

It covers the range up to 500mm - This compact ultra telephoto zoom lens covers a useful range up to 500mm and it is ideal for sports, nature, wildlife, and landscape photography. It lets you bring your far away subject up close.
Equipped with aspherical and SLD glass elements - This lens uses one aspherical lens and three SLD(Special Low Dispersion) glass elements for excellent correction all types of aberration, making high-quality images a reality throughout the entire zoom range.
The rear focus system - The five-group zoom and rear focus systems ensure high performance stability and ease of use. Since the front of the lens does not rotate, a circular polarizing filter can be easily attached and use.
Equipped with detachable tripod collar and lens hood - A zoom hood is supplied with this lens to prevent flare and ghosting as well as extraneous light harmful for image quality. A removable tripod collar is also included as a standard component.
- ASP (Aspherical Lens) The aspherical lens complex allows freedom of design, improved performance, a reduced number of component lenses and a compact size.
- APO (APO Lens) In order to attain the highest quality images, the APO lens has been made using special low-dispersion (SLD) glass and is designed to minimize color aberration.
- RF (Rear Focus) This lens is equipped with a system that moves the rear lens group for highspeed , silent focusing
- DG (DG Lens) These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.

Heck of a lens for the price. Used with Nikon D50 Would recommend. It is big, but can be used without a tripod in most cases. Otherwise get a heavy duty tripod.

I use this lens on a Nikon D50 SLR with great results. For the money, buy can't beat it. Great for wildlife and sports. Would recommend for anyone looking for a great zoom. I use a lot on a heavy tripod, but it does great just hand held.

I've only had this lens for a couple months now but have managed to take some great photos with it. You almost have to use a tripod if you want to use full zoom, but it is well constructed and feels very solid. I bought this specifically for sports photography (take that you fixed 400mm users!) but have since found it to be a great lens for wildlife and even night shots. This is an excellent lens, especially for the money.

I wanted a 500 without the price. This lens works well with a tripod, but will creep when pointed down - be careful when sitting, you may break it! Awesome night shots of the moon. Will submit another review when I shoot some sports.
